Banned video games still sold here

Guess its time for MDA to introduce a ESRB style rating system. Just not fair to implement a blanket ban on all games.

Banned video games still sold here

DESPITE an official ban on ultra-violent video games such as The Darkness and Saints Row, players say they pick them up from retailers or individuals who import the titles themselves.

Some shops have brought in banned titles for regulars for 'a while now', said gaming industry observer Aaron Yip.

A visit to a popular Web forum revealed comments from gamers saying they had bought The Darkness for $99 in stores here.

A Straits Times check with three retail outlets in the city area and two others in heartland shopping malls turned up a blank.

However, sales staff said patrons often ask for banned games.
